Five best mobiles from Indian manufacturers in 2013

The mobile device industry is dynamic and highly;y evolving in India. Today, some Indian manufacturers are becoming stiff lending a still rivalry to global market leaders such as Samsung and Nokia. Indian phone makers such as Micromax, Lava and Karbonn are growing fast and adapting to consumer needs and consequently seeing increasing success in the market. Despite the fact that their phones are made in China, these Indian companies have established strong brand identities. Below are five of the best phones to come from Indian brands in 2013.

Micromax Canvas Turbo A250

This Indian company has released the Canvas Turbo in an attempt to improve on the drawbacks of the Canvas 4. Micromax is now the second largest player in the Indian market and has captured a 17.7% slice of market share in 2013. In an effort to capture that market share the phone maker embarked on a large scale marketing campaign in 2013 - including hiring Wolverine star Hugh Jackman as the brand lead-endorser for their Canvas range. The Micromax Canvas Turbo boasts features such as 5-inch full-HD display, 2 GB RAM, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with A-GPS, 13-megapxiel rear camera, 5-megapixel front camera and 16GB internal memory.

Xolo Opus Q1000

This phone is one of the few smartphones to feature Broadcom’s BCM23550 quad-core HSPA+ processor clocked at 1.2GHz and is coupled with 1GB RAM. It is the latest entrant in the Indian budget smartphone segment and is excellent design value for money. It is a dual-SIM (GSM + GSM) smartphone and operates on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The Xolo Opus Q1000 features include a 5-inch IPS display with 480 x 854 pixels resolution, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4GB on-board storage and is expandable up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

Xolo has been looking beyond the established MediaTek chipset whilst other Indian smartphone makers have not.
