A brilliant innovation that hit the markets last July was the ASUS Zenfone series. Although it’s a little late to review the product I only got a chance at a recent meet, to explore the brilliance of this technology. The Zenfone 5 body has an amazing feel, equipped with an interchangeable back casing.
Available in India in 4 different colours, the Zenfone 5 has a variety of inbuilt apps that will literally blow your mind. Starting off with the Pixel Master technology in the 13 MP camera, this lens can capture absolutely anything. With the Low light mode, images can be actually captured in the dark too, while the smart remove mode prevents all photo bombs!

What impressed me even more was the Depth of Field mode that actually captures the intensity and intricate details of the focus in the photograph. Moving towards the other features, the Zenfone 5 has the PC link which transfers your media files and even your presentations! An overall analysis of the smartphone makes me wonder why I never laid my hands on it before.

First World Problems: I want a new mobile for Christmas but there are too many options. Yeah, I know. I have 600 bucks to spare and I’m still whining. The thing is I’m not alone. I struggled a lot when I helped my boss to choose a phone system for the office, but I got help from these expert providers in the end. They were neutral, they were helpful. That’s not the case when buying a new mobile.

There’s a war, there are fans, and everybody has an opinion. If you’re one of those iPhone lovers who always get the latest model and cool accessories, you might overlook the latest Android reviews. The thing is that by offering tons of improvement over its predecessor, the top-of-the-range Samsung Galaxy S5 has evolved impressively. There’s no denying it.

It has a larger battery, bigger and brighter screen as well as a quicker processor than the Galaxy S4. The camera has improved providing faster, clearer snaps. Packing in a dedicated heart rate monitor, the fitness-tracking abilities have been enhanced as well. Featuring a one-of-a-kind fingerprint scanner, the S5 is the most reliable smartphone ever designed. Or so they say.

According to CNET, “Samsung's Galaxy S5 excels at everything that matters -- Android 4.4 KitKat OS; a bright, beautiful display; blistering quad-core processor; and an excellent camera experience.” Our favorite feature of the coveted Samsung Galaxy S5 is its unique water-resistance. Users can delight on using the smartphone at the beach or in the bathroom without having to constantly worry about water damage. Amazing, isn’t it?

Even though the Samsung Galaxy S5 faces some stiff competition, it’s one of the best smartphones around. Providing huge benefits, the smartphone is, by far, the biggest rival to the iPhone 6. Are you intrigued? Me too. Let’s check out why:

Screen Size

Even if the iPhone 6 is really close to the Samsung Galaxy S5 in terms of screen size, the latter is still bigger by 0.4 inches.

Features

The Samsung Galaxy S5 has the most outstanding screen, its unique water resistance feature, a fingerprint scanner as well as a battery life that surpasses Apple’s iPhone.

Design

This is the only category where Apple beats Samsung on this battle. Made of a gorgeous brushed aluminum, the iPhone 6 is just 6.9 mm thick compared to the 8.1 mm of the Samsung Galaxy S5. That’s why the former feels more comfortable after holding it for a while. Therefore, if you’re a person who likes phones that can be easily used with just one hand, you should go for an iPhone 6.

The verdict

Providing users with a microSD slot for affordable extra storage, a camera that exceeds the solid snapper on the iPhone 6 and a removable battery, the Samsung Galaxy S5 becomes, hands down, the most refined and compelling proposition. That’s before you even consider its price. It’s now a lot cheaper than the iPhone 6.

So I guess that’s it. Santa will be bringing me a Samsung Galaxy S5 this year.

While there is no assurance on the accuracy of the reading, this feature is simple to use and a useful tool when it comes to keeping track of your pulse during an intense workout session.
How It Works

The Instant Heart Monitor is a simple and user friendly tool. All you have to do is select the heart-rate monitor icon that is built into the S5’s newly improved S Health 3.0 app. Many users would assume that the bump right below the camera lens is a flash. However, it is a sensor that helps you track down your fitness activities and plan out your workouts accordingly. Just place your index finger on the center of the flash module and get started. The sensor counts the changes in blood flow present in the tip of your finger and then calculates the overall beats per minute. It usually counts for around 15-30 seconds and then does a simple calculation to give you the desired results. Once the data is captured, the heart rate is added to a graph. This helps you plot your heart rate over a period of time and can then be viewed at a later stage in time.
Become Your Own Personal Trainer
The heart rate sensor is integrated into the S Health app that uses it to coach you on your workout regime. It is also compatible with the Galaxy Gear 2, Galaxy Gear 2 Neo and Galaxy Gear Fit. This is highly useful as you can monitor your activity without even having to remove your Samsung Galaxy S5 from your pocket. The same feature has been added to the new Gear smartwatches and the Gear fitness brand. All these accessories work by beaming a light through your skin. This furthermore detects the change in color every time blood rushes past the nanoscale camera. Samsung S5’s heart rate sensor is perfect for monitoring the rate of your pulse during a workout and also seeing the quickness of recovery. However, the heart rate sensor in the Gear range products has an extra use. Since they are strapped to your skin constantly, your heart rate can be monitored at real time. This definitely lets you become your own personal fitness trainer, and in turn, motivates you to either push harder or slow down depending on your heart rate situation.
Not The First, But Not The Worst
While Samsung has boasted that the S5 is the first of its kind smartphone with a built-in heart rate sensor, there are many apps in the Google Play store that are similar in function. The Instant Heart Rate is one such third-party app that can be downloaded onto your smartphone for a small fee. However, this app and others are at times unpredictable and slower compared to Samsung’s built-in solution. You have to be completely still for Instant Heart Rate to work. The only downfall the S5’s heart rate sensor has is that there doesn’t seem to be a way to interact with the app regarding your activities. The Samsung Galaxy S5 allows for a faster and cleaner capture of your heart rate, and allows you to do more in the long run.
Revolutionize Your Workouts

While the S5 has it’s disadvantages with the heart rate sensor, it can revolutionize the way you workout. When used with the Gear smartwatches or the Gear Fit, the advantages and practicality are abundant. The fact that you can check your heart rate on a constant basis, even while you are exercising, makes the feature far more useful. Along with the S Health 3.0 acting as your personal trainer, this heart rate sensor will definitely keep you on your toes and motivated to make the most out of your workouts. But it has still not managed to really capture the market. Despite being faster and more reliable than 2G, the high cost of 3G-enabled devices and data plans, have kept people from patronizing it.
However, nothing in this world is constant and change is inevitable. Especially when it comes to technology, things move really fast. Before 3G could even make inroads, 4G, the next generation of wireless networking is here. The fourth generation seems to have become the new preferred choice of cellular operators, and it might soon become mainstream. In fact, Airtel has already started to roll out 4G services in India.
The silver lining is that it’s being offered at the same price as 3G. However, it’s only available in Bangalore so far. To add to the woes, it can only be used on the iPhone 5S and 5C, being the only devices that support the 2300MHz band on which the service is being offered in India.
Other operators are expected to follow suit and may start the 4G rollout soon. Moreover, the devices supporting 4G will definitely increase. That would eventually lead to increased potential for 4G in the near future and will help 4G become mainstream. Let’s explore the reasons why and when 4G networks will gain more popularity.
Availability of existing infrastructure
Experts believe that unlike 3G, 4G can be built over the existing 3G infrastructure, and the operators don’t have to invest in fresh infrastructure for 4G and spectrum. Besides 4G can integrate with the 2G and other existing technologies seamlessly.
It’s pretty obvious that 4G will offer higher data speeds than 3G and will make life easier for people who need higher bandwidth and streaming. Besides the retail customers, 4G will also be a boon for businesses that are highly dependent on the internet. In fact, the e-commerce businesses are the ones who would benefit the most from 4G being rolled out on a large scale. It can create a large customer-base by offering seamless services across multiple platforms to small and medium enterprises.
More profitability may get the carriers to roll-out soon
As already discussed, it is cheaper to invest in 4G infrastructure than 3G, and it could build on the already existing infrastructure. It would be cheaper than 3G, and would be easier for the telecom operators to recover their fixed investment and reach break-even. The telecom companies in India have always been complaining of very tight profit margins. This could be a blessing in disguise for them. They may offer the basic services at a cheaper price to the individuals or retail customers, and charge a premium from the businesses that would be ready and willing to do so for consistent and advanced data services.
3G Vs. 4G
India is still in its early days with respect to 4G, and it would take a while before 4G could offer some serious competition to 3G. The telecom companies have invested heavily in 3G infrastructure and spectrum during the recent years, and would like to recover their costs before they could move on to 4G. It also depends largely on how the consumers and end-users receive this new technology. The recently launched 4G services by Airtel should give a good idea to other operators about the target audience. If people develop a liking for the same, it may encourage Airtel to roll out the services in more circles, and the other telecoms may follow suit.
Some people also feel that 3G and 4G will complement each other and work side by side, as both have different strengths and weaknesses. For the time being, 3G is going strong and is not ready to yield an inch. Despite all the fuss, we cannot predict with certainty about 4G networks becoming mainstream. We can only have a proper idea once the 4G roll-out starts in all the circles in India. As of now, it is uncertain what the future has in store for 4G networks in India. Wearables appear to be the next wave in technology, and Google Glass and smartwatches from vendors like Samsung, and Sony have already started a trend.
So, here is a roundup of all the rumors surrounding the Nexus 8 Tablet and Google’s unannounced but much anticipated smartwatch.
Nexus 8 Set To be Released Soon?
It has not been formally announced as yet, but there are a lot of rumors flying around about an 8-inch tablet, its release date, the processor, manufacturer, and even price.
Time Of Release
Many rumors pin the date at June, to tie in with the Google I/O conference, where the company is also expected to release the Android 4.5 version.
The OEM
Google, of course, doesn't make its own hardware, it only provides the technical and design specifications. So far, Asus, LG and Samsung have been Google's OEM partners for the Nexus tablets. The Asus partnership that resulted in the Nexus 7 tablet, proved to be the most popular one. However, some rumors are pointing towards LG being the chosen partner to make the Nexus 8 tablet. Latest reports are pointing to HTC. The tablet is reported to have an 8.9-inch display.
Processor
Intel announced its Moorefield processor during the MWC and several reports suggest this could be the processor powering Nexus 8. Another popular choice is the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
Software
There are some reports that predict the Nexus 8 tablet will run the latest version of Android. As the tablet is expected to be released in June or July, that is probably the Android 4.5 version. The new version is expected to be called Lollipop or Lemon Meringue Pie.
Price
The Nexus 8 for the 16GB and 32GB models, are expected to be priced at $249 and $299 respectively.
Google Smartwatch
Ever since last year, there have been many reports of Google designing a smartwatch, as part of its wearable gadgets stable, led by the Google Glass. Websites fueled the buzz, and patents filed by the company for smartwatch devices added to the anticipation.
So, collecting together all the available unconfirmed reports about the smartwatch we can provide a few hints at what the actual smartwatch will look like and what its configuration could be.
When Is The Google Smartwatch Coming Out?
The Google Smartwatch, will have a square look like smartwatches from Sony and Samsung. It could have touch controls placed on the straps in addition to the watch face, to enable smoother operations.
There are also rumors that LG will be the OEM to make the Smartwatch, though Google is also said to be exploring other options. The smartwatch is also said to feature the Google Now service. This software is an intelligent and adaptive personal assistance service that can provide users with information like weather and location to sports news and the best routes to take to reach your destination.
While the Smartwatch might run on the latest Android version, Google is also working on a wearable device OS. The Smartwatch might run on the new OS, officially known as Android Wear. Android Wear is a lighter version of Android designed to work with devices like the smartwatch. It will probably have the card based UI of Google Now.
The Smartwatch will probably be made by LG and have a 1.65-inch color screen with a resolution of 280x280 pixels. It could sport a 512 MB RAM with 4GB internal storage. There are as yet no definite reports about the processor and other specifications and whether the device will have a camera.
Google is already working on cutting edge wearable gadgets, with the futuristic Google Glass. So, gadget aficionados have a lot to look forward to in the coming months, with the Google Nexus 8 and a Google smartwatch on their wishlist. Moto G: Which handset is better?

The Xolo Q1100 and the Moto G were launched within three days of each other and both are priced under INR 15,000 and hence it is noteworthy comparing the two to see which is better. The Xolo Q1100 has a lot to offer. It runs on the v4.3 Jelly Bean Android OS. It was released as a venture of the new company taking on the big bosses of the phone market. The Moto G, on the other hand, is one of the first phones to be launched by Motorola after being bought by Google and it certainly looks promising.
Design And Display

The body of the Xolo Q1100 feels polished and cut out at the edges. The phone feels good in the hands and has a brilliant touch. It has a large 5-inch display that comes with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The Moto G comes with a 4.5-inch screen and a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and has a 329 ppi pixel density. Its display stretches to all four corners of the phone. Watch, read, browse and game on a big and more brilliant display. It weighs 143g and hence has a very pleasing and well balanced presence in the hand without being too overbearing. Also, although it is 11.6 mm thick in the middle, it feels a lot thinner as it has tapered edges.
Performance

The Xolo Q1100 is powered by a beastly 1.4 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU along with 1 GB of RAM that allows seamless brilliance while operating the phone. Moreover, it has an 8 GB internal memory which is expandable up to 32 GB with an external SD card. The OpenGL ES 3.0 allows the phone to run even the highest quality graphic games. The Moto G, on the other hand, is equipped with a 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor and 1GB of RAM. This is impressive as it offers pretty much the same specs as on some other high-end models. It also comes with an internal memory of 16 GB expandable up to 32 GB.
Battery Life

The makers claim that the Q1100 has a battery back-up of up to 600 hrs and 430 hours on stand-by, and 24 hours and 12 hours of talk time on 2G and 3G, respectively. The Moto G, similarly, has a non removable 2070 mAh battery with a talk time of upto 24 hours.
Camera

The major difference between the two phones is the camera and in this context at least, the Xolo appears to be the winner. It has an 8 MP camera with auto focus, LED flash light and a host of features like geo-tagging, panorama, face detection and touch focus. It is capable of recording HD videos of 1080 pixels at 30 fps. It also has a 2 MP secondary camera. The Moto G, sadly, disappoints in this aspect. On the rear of the handset, there is a 5MP camera and single LED flash, while on the front, you get a 1.3 MP shooter.
While it features the normal auto focus and such features, none of them actually seem to work efficiently. Pictures taken from this phone are often disoriented and out of focus. To get a phone at this price, a cut has to be made somewhere and Google decided to make it in the camera segment.
Conclusion

The Xolo Q1100 also has some unique features in it. It comes with the Battery Guru app that studies your usage and conserves as much battery life as possible. It enables you to get a much higher battery life than contemporary models. It is also ultra thin at just 8.3 mm in thickness. The Moto G has a water resistant coating; something we do not see in other phones of this range, which means you'll be able to whip it out in the rain without fear of a short circuit. The question is what Lenovo is going to do with the brand, especially since Google managed to revive it with the Moto X and G. While Lenovo isn’t really known for its smartphones outside China, there are plenty of reasons to trust that they will take good care of both Moto G and Moto X.
It’s enough to have a look at their PC shipments to realize how much power they have when it comes to transforming brands. While Hewlett-Packard use the rise of tablets and smartphones as an excuse for their poor sales, Lenovo even managed to have a 2.7% growth in year-over-year shipments. Growing in a descending market and owning the highest global market share (17.1 %) is quite an achievement for Lenovo. Also, Lenovo is the only Wintel PC manufacturer who managed to break the smartphone market with some degree of success, after all the others (HP, Dell, Asus) failed miserably at it.
After seeing how they brought life to IBM’s ThinkPad series, it’s not too far-fetched to assume that they will turn Motorola into a fresh brand as well. Lenovo invested a lot of effort into making their products more appealing from a design standpoint and it paid off; therefore, expect them to do the same with the Moto G and X. They know what’s cool and they know when to adapt themselves and when to refresh.
Let’s not forget though that, thanks in big part to China’s bump, Lenovo is the fourth largest smartphone share holder in the global market and it’s still growing. Sure, the 6.4% share has nothing on Apple’s 17.9% and Samsung’s 28.8%, but with Motorola’s involvement, Lenovo has big chances of becoming a playmaker.
Moreover, Lenovo has the marketing aspect of Motorola in its bag. A few years ago, the “Hello Moto” welcome was recognized by everybody. Google didn’t quite know how to capitalize on that, opting for bizarre and overly sexualized ads instead. Lenovo, on the other hand, will avoid this kind of sloppiness. After all, Ashton Kutcher is working for them as an engineer and Kobe Bryant is one of their spokesmen.
Given their interest in the US market, where Motorola doesn’t have any presence at all anymore, it’s a given that Lenovo will invest big money not only in the marketing of Moto G and Moto X, but also in future Motorola releases, especially since the North American market is one that really needs budget and quality smartphones, since not everybody is ready to spill more than $400 on iPhones and Samsung Galaxy devices. The patent arrangement between Lenovo and Google will eventually manage, among other things, to tone down the TouchWiz customizations.
What makes the Moto X and G so great is the software-hardware integration. They have a top camera, fantastic voice command capabilities and impressive battery, just to mention a few assets, squeezed into a well-designed rectangle. Working as a team, Google and Lenovo will split the responsibilities between them, each focusing on what it does best, while Motorola will slowly get blended in with Lenovo, just like IBM did.
While we don’t know if Lenovo will continue with the strategy of marketing a high-end and a low-end phone at the same time or if it will develop a wide range of phones, one thing is for sure: Lenovo mustn’t be underestimated. While the consensus might be that they will never take Apple’s and Samsung’s crowns, don’t forget that Dell, HP and Acer believed the same and now Lenovo is laughing all the way to the bank. Equipped with a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, the device offers a bright and large 5.5 inches display. On the other side, the highly anticipated Nexus 5 is also hitting headlines since its worldwide launch. So, how do these smartphone devices compare to each other?
Let’s find out with a feature analysis.
Dimensions
Google Nexus 5 is designed to be more compact and light weight when compared to Gionee Elife E7. E7 weighs heavier at 150g while Nexus 5 is lighter by 20gm. Even in terms of dimensions, Elife is bigger in terms of dimensions than the Nexus 5 and is bulkier to carry around.
Display Size and Resolution
Gionee Elife E7 and Nexus 5 offer more or less similar sized displays with just half an inch of difference between them. E7 has a bigger display that is 5.5 inches long. Both these devices have 1920x1080pixels screen resolution. However, Nexus 5 is likely to offer a better resolution quality with 445 pixels per inch compared to 401 pixels per inch in Elife E7.
Sensors
This feature is more relevant in terms of utility to the user. Both E7 and Nexus 5 have common built-in sensors like the accelerometer, gyroscope, and compass. Nexus 5 has the additional barometer functionality and if you find this sensor handy, then the Google device certainly scores better over E7.
Operating System and Processor
Gionee Elife E7 offers Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system while Nexus 5 has Android 4.4 Jelly Bean. With the faster 2.3 GHz Quad Core processor powering the Nexus 5, it performs more efficiently than the 2.2 GHz processor in E7.
Memory
Elife E7 offers 2GB and 3GB RAM in its different versions but Nexus 5 is available with a single option of 2GB RAM. There is no memory card support in any of these devices.
Battery
When it comes to battery life, Elife E7 has the bigger capacity battery. E7 has 2,500 mAh battery to give a longer battery life than Nexus 5 with its 2,300 mAh battery.
Camera
Elife E7 has a much better 16MP LED flash rear camera and 8MP front camera. Nexus 5 does not have much to showcase in the camera department. It offers just a mid resolution 8MP LED flash camera and a secondary camera with 1.3MP. The user can click better resolution images with the E7, and if the camera feature is important to him then he may not prefer to own Nexus 5.
Price
Google Nexus 5 is available at Rs. 28,999 for 16 GB version and Rs.32, 999 for 32 GB version. Gionee Elife E7 on the other hand is yet to arrive in India. The Chinese Smartphone manufacturer, Gionee is likely to retail E7 in January, 2014 in India.
Is Gionee Elife E7 Better than Nexus 5?
It’s hard to pick a winner between these two smart phones. Both of them are different from each other in their own terms. However, here is a summary of the analysis that can aid in your choice.
- Elife E7 offers a bigger screen size with 5.5 inches screen
- Elife E7 has a high resolution 16MP LED flash rear camera
- Elife E7 also offers an 8MP secondary camera
- Elife E7 offers a FM radio option
On the other side:
- Nexus 5 is more compact and light weight than Elife E7
- Nexus 5 has more internal memory
- Nexus 5 has faster processing speed
With information on the important specs at the user’s disposal, he can make a more informed choice when looking at these two recent additions in the smartphones market. Here, we have done away with the customary listing of the basic features of the two handsets. Rather, the attempt has been to bring about a simple analysis to assist potential customers.
Here are some of the points of analysis:
- The first point concerns the battery backup of the two handsets. While the Motorola Moto G has a battery capacity of 2070 mAh, Micromax Canvas Turbo has a 2000 mAh capacity. This means that the latter has a shorter battery life than the former.
- However, the screen size of the Motorola Moto G is smaller than that of Micromax canvas Turbo. The screen size of Moto G is 4.50 inches while the Canvas Turbo has a good 5.00 inches screen. Therefore, customers can enjoy easier viewing experience with the Micromax Canvas Turbo.
- The handset from Micromax scores high even on the resolution front. The Micromax Canvas Turbo comes with a resolution of 1,080 X 1,920 pixels and Motorola Moto G comes with 720 X 1,280 pixels. The former ensures better picture quality between the two.
- Micromax Canvas Turbo is loaded with a MediaTek 1.5GHz quad-core processor. On the other hand, the Motorola Moto G comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 1.2GHz quad-core processor. While both of them function with quad-core processors, there remains a marginal difference between the processing speed of the two. Thus, we can expect a shade faster performance of the Micromax handset the Motorola one.
- Another feature that puts the Micromax Canvas Turbo on an advantageous ground vis-a-vis the Motorola Moto G is its in-built 2 GB RAM compared to Motorola, which has a 1 GB RAM.
- Another point of advantage of the Micromax Canvas Turbo against the Motorola Moto G is the dual camera feature. Both the rear and the front cameras of the Canvas Turbo are more powerful than that of the Moto G. While the rear camera of Canvas Turbo is of 13 megapixels, that of the latter is 5 megapixels. With a 5 megapixels front camera, Canvas Turbo offers clicks of better resolution when compared to the 1.3 megapixels camera in Moto G.
- Talking about internal storage, the Motorola Moto G allows users to store up to 16 GB of data. Micromax Turbo offers a maximum storage capacity of 12.47 GB. The disadvantage of both the handsets is that this internal storage capacity is not expandable.
- While both run on the Android platform, the Motorola Moto G functions on an upgraded OS, the Android 4.3, while the Canvas Turbo runs on an older version, the Android 4.2.
- Priced at Rs. 12,500, Motorola Moto G is the affordable of the two while the Canvas Turbo will require the buyer to shell Rs. 16,989 out of his pocket.
As is inevitable when you compare gadgets, each will have its own advantages and disadvantages. However, opting for one of them is solely a matter of personal choice. Its narrow 64.8mm frame allows easy handling with a single hand. With a dual core 1.5GHz processor combined with optimal software, this phone is capable of handling 3D games effectively. The 4.3-inch Super AMOLED HD (960 x 540) screen is also quite decent for a handset in this category. This being said, the anticipation for the S5 couldn’t be higher and Samsung seems to be ready yet again to blow our socks off. In a way, the success of the S4 can be both a blessing and a curse – people will expect great things from the new release, but the new release might not be THAT great; after all the more you expect, the more it can disappoint. But let’s be positive.
While it has been said initially that the S5 will be unveiled during the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona in February, apparently it will have an event entirely dedicated to it in London, mid-march, meaning it could be on sale worldwide as soon as April.
No official image of the S5 is available yet, but @evleaks has released an image showing the phone’s menu and if we assume it’s the real deal, it will have a functionality resembling the Google Now system. The home screen displays a series of “smart cards” which change according to where the user is located or the things he is doing, offering relevant information for every person in particular. This would mean that the UI has been considerably improved, if not done from scratch altogether, taking the TouchWiz one step further.
As for the specs, all fingers point to the SamMobile website, which is responsible for the leak. While they need to be taken with a grain of salt, given the fact that more and more reports agree on the specifications, we suppose most of them will likely turn out to be true. To set the record straight, one thing you won’t see incorporated in the S5 is the iris scanner. Samsung decided to go with the fingerprint scanner instead and before you all start to scream that Apple already did that, it will probably differ by performing the scanning on screen instead of doing it through a home button like the iPhone 5S did.
Now, let’s go back to the rumors. They say Samsung S5 is looking to heavily improve its user interface and touch controller mechanisms, by working closely with a company which goes by the name Synaptics. This would result in an elevation of the accuracy and sensitivity of the phone.
Sanmobile revealed that the S5 will choose Apple’s approach, by releasing both metal and plastic case versions, priced at Rs. 68,000 and Rs. 55,000, respectively. Digging deeper into the specs, it looks like the S5 will feature an AMOLED display, at a resolution of 2560x1440 – all this packed in a screen of over 5 inches. While initially it has been said that the S5 will run on the fast-as-lightning processor Exynos 6 Snapdragon 805, chances are things will go down like it happened with the S4, released with a Snapdragon 600 and re-released afterwards with the improved 800.
The boost generated by a Snapdragon 805 would allow the handset to run on 64bit, but in case we’ll see this upgrade, it will probably be available only for the expensive metal version. As for the RAM, some websites claim it will have 4GB, while the rest go a bit lower, at 3GB. The logical assumption is that all these components will run with the latest KitKat OS.
Something interesting about the camera is that it will have a 16MP sensor, and that is according to the Korean website ET News. 20MP sensors are also being developed for Samsung’s flagship phones. So will it be 16 or 20? Not that 16 would be a bad thing, but the 20MP sensor would also include optical image stabilization technology (OIS). The OIS would significantly reduce the shaking and blur which might occur when you’re taking a picture with your phone. Don’t get your hopes up though, since the required suspension mechanisms will probably not arrive in time for the Galaxy S5’s launch. But one can hope.
Another rumor suggests that the S5 might be ready to take video chats to the next level, through a Multi-Party Video Conference which would not only allow them to simultaneously video chat to more people at once, but also to use both the rear and front camera. Such a patent would make the phone even more business-oriented.
The S5 rumors have been circulating like crazy, from the eye-scanner to the 4k display. While nothing is sure until the Samsung officials confirm it, if at least half of the speculations will turn out to be true, consider us to be happy customers. Samsung has to deliver and it knows it. Motorola hasn’t been a dominant force in India for a long while – as a matter of fact, the company quit business there a few years ago, while other companies emerged or expanded. India is a competitive market and the fact that their upcoming Moto G will be mostly sold online might hurt its chances of success, although some retail chains will probably pick it up after all. The distribution partner theory is even more plausible in the wake of Motorola’s vice president claiming to announce the Moto G alongside another company ready to put it on the market.
Despite the word of mouth claiming that it would be released in India this week, Motorola hasn’t set a date yet; however, their officials released the date when we’ll find out the release date. Yes, a bit of “date-ception” there. On the 5th of February we’ll know exactly when to expect it in stores like Flipkart and probably its price tag as well. However, don’t expect it to go over Rs. 13,000 for the 16GB version, since Motorola claims that it’s a budget and fully-featured Android phone. In the USA, the phone is already priced at $199 and $179, depending on the version – the 16GB one and the 8GB one, respectively, suggesting even further that it will be aimed at prince-conscious buyers.
Even though the days when Motorola was a dominant force on the market are long gone, we are eager to see what the Moto G can do, even if it’s just for the curiosity of seeing Google and Motorola’s “baby”. The association with Google has the potential of drawing potential customers in, although it’s not just the association itself which is appealing, but also the specs we know so far. Moto G has 4.5 inches at a resolution of 1280×720, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor clocking in at 1.2 GHz, with 1GB RAM. At this point, it’s pretty much above what most phones offer for the price. As mentioned earlier, it will be available in two versions, with 16GB and 8GB internal memory.
When it comes to connectivity, we have Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth v4.0, GPS, NFC and USB. In India, it has been confirmed as well that the phone will have a dual-SIM feature. The camera’s resolution is at the 5MP standard, while the front camera used for video conferences and chats is sporting 1.3MP. All these sound good – especially the screen resolution, which even though is no match for the high-end full HD smartphones, it does the job incredibly well, according to early reviews. Also, Rs. 13,000 for a phone offering 16GB of internal memory is not something you would want to overlook. And yet, something is still missing from the specs – that’s because we saved the best for last. The Moto G will join the short list (so far) of phones using the latest Android OS, which is the KitKat 4.4.2., therefore, performance-wise, the phone should be a charmer.
And indeed, the defining word of Moto G is meant to be “speed”. Motorola and Google avoided using heavily modified user interface, allowing the phone to have more accessibility and a better Internet navigation experience, thus offering great costumer value.

On a market dominated by companies like Micromax and Samsung, the Moto G can raise the bar for budget phones. We saw the beginning of this trend last year with smartwatches and fitness wristbands. While most wearable technologies so far have been focused on health and fitness, we are seeing a much larger variety of wearables this year.

What are some of the most intriguing new wearable technologies?

Smartwatches allow us to control our phone or receive messages from it, without having to touch the phone itself. Fitness wristbands can help us track our physical activity, by counting steps or letting us know whether we have met our goals. Mimo Baby, made by Intel, allows parents to monitor their baby's comfort, activity, and temperature from afar using a smartphone app. Google Glass allows users to take pictures and browse the Internet, among other things, without hands by issuing voice commands. The Oculus Rift offers us a virtual reality experience that has the potential to change the video game industry dramatically. As wearables become more and more hot, we will see devices that claim to be able to help us with any activity.

Despite this influx of wearables onto the market, many consumers are wondering whether they could use any of this new stuff.

Do we really need all of these wearable technologies?

The reason why wearables need some time to take off is because most people have not established a need for them yet. This is what we saw before cellphones became smart. Once we were able to appreciate the convenience that a smartphone can provide, many consumers made the switch. With smartphones you can do a lot that you could not before. You can check your bank account, look at a map, or video chat with friends, all from an incredibly portable device.

Like smartphones, over time a need will be established for wearable technologies. The kinds of wearable technologies that will become the most popular are the ones that can increase the quality of life for most of its users. Smartwatches are one such wearable technology that have the potential to take off. Many working professionals may find a smartwatch makes their lives easier. With a smartwatch, you do not have to constantly pull out your phone to check your messages.

Other wearable devices that have the potential to take off are ones that can do well in a niche. For example, there was a golf glove at CES 2014 that has sensors monitoring 1,000 data points per second, which are used to create a 3D representation of a golf player's swing.

Wearable technologies have great potential

In this day, we have astonishing smartphones, tablets, and computers, so it makes sense that we are branching out to more forms of devices. As we make computer chips that are smaller and smaller, we can put these chips to good use with wearable devices. Some wearables may offer luxury, while in the future, others may be seen as necessities. For example, in the future, wearable fitness-tracking devices for the elderly may be seen as a necessity.
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10767997158696063947noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4553977714311490263.post-737185899265024582014-02-03T02:40:00.001-08:002014-02-03T02:40:18.803-08:00Robots and now Nest: What is Google going to do next?

Google has also become increasingly interested in robotics lately. In December, they acquired Boston Dynamics, along with at least seven other robotics firms.

Furthermore, Google now owns Nest Labs. With the recent acquisition of Nest Labs for $3.2 billion, we will soon see them make a move in the connected-home market. Nest Labs manufactures smart thermostats and smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Google hopes to use this underlying technology to become a leader in the "Internet of Things."

Where is Google going with all of this?

Prior to the Nest Labs acquisition, iRobot's CEO Colin Angle speculated that Google was going to try to manufacture robots to make the package delivery service easier. For example, robots that could carry packages using complicated lifting and balancing mechanisms.

However, after Nest was acquired, speculation of what Google is going to do next has changed. It seems that Google is becoming interested in joining in on the connected-home market, a market in which iRobot is currently a leader.

Nest's smart thermostats and smoke detectors are just the beginning. Google is more interested in the technology underlying these devices. In the future, our home devices will all seamlessly connect in the "Internet of Things." Your smartphone will be able to connect with devices like your stove or thermostat. You will be able to preheat the oven on your way home or turn down the temperature in your house while you are at work.

If you are wondering what types of smart home devices we will see from Google, Frank Gillett, a Forrester Research analyst, predicts smart door bells, locks, humidity monitors, and baby monitors. Underlying all of these devices are sensors to gather information about the environment and a Wi-Fi chip to send this data to other devices.

With more smart home devices, Google will be able to acquire more data about its users. This data can be used to improve users lives. Some of these devices will be able to learn from our behaviors, using machine learning and artificial intelligence. For example, a thermostat could learn when we usually turn down the heat, such as when it is warm outside or when you are at work. Once it learns your behaviors, the thermostat could start changing the heat on its own to satisfy your needs.

There has been much speculation over where Google is headed. Neil Doshi, from CRT Capital, speculated that Google will venture into the home entertainment market. They already made a step into this market with Chromecast, allowing a user to easily stream online content to a television. After the acquisition, Colin Angle speculated that Google may create technologies to give senior citizens more autonomy.

In this day, we have cutting-edge smartphones, tablets, computers, and televisions. As a result, manufacturers are branching out to other devices. Google will be a pioneer in the connected-home movement, given their acquisition of Nest Labs and 8 other robotics companies in 2013. This is certainly something to get excited about!
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10767997158696063947noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4553977714311490263.post-15468218420449344962014-01-30T02:08:00.001-08:002014-01-30T02:08:53.406-08:00Can Android continue its momentum this year?

The Android ecosystem as a whole had a very busy 2013. A huge variety of products were launched ranging from the smartphones to tablets. The year also saw android venturing into new avenues like smart watches and gaming devices. A new version of Android was launched as well, known as KitKat. Let us take a peek at what lies in store for Android in 2014:

Influence of Google

Google has started to take more control over Android by decreasing the dependence on carriers like Samsung, HTC, Sony and LG. In 2013 itself, we saw the introduction of the Nexus line of smartphones launched by Google. The Google Play Store experience was wonderful as well. We can expect more of such products from Google in 2014.The fact that Google has introduced its apps in the Play Store will help them update the Android features more easily rather than waiting for the next Android release.

Updates on features

It was expected that Near Field Communication (NFC) would be widely accepted in 2013 itself, but it is still not mainstream. NFC is a standard for smartphones and devices alike, which helps them to communicate with each other by establishing radio communication. The advent of large screens and superfast CPUs has led to decreasing battery life in mobile phones. This would be a point where we can expect to see some developments in 2014 with an increase in the use of non-removable batteries. Certain phones like the Samsung Galaxy Round and the LG G Flex give us the hope of an interesting 2014.

New avenues

There is a lot to watch out for, as far as treading on new avenues is concerned, next year. Samsung will be leading the pack because of the huge resources at their disposal. In 2013 we saw an interesting feature of underwater photography in Samsung Galaxy S4 Active. Samsung promises to bring a lot of variety in the zoom feature across the various versions of Samsung Galaxy S5 in 2014. As far as the smart watch segment is concerned, we can expect to see a lot of new products released. Android became quite popular in the gamers’ circuit in 2013 with the Ouya, Nvidia Shield and Moga controllers being released. The mobile gaming industry is set to evolve and grow in the upcoming year. Gamers can play the games which they had earlier been playing on their couches even while they are on the move. The cost is expected to come down as well. Google Glass is something that can get a market release in 2014, having received a lot of traction in 2013.

Price

In the competitive market, manufacturers are looking at the low-end of the market and targeting the common mass. The increasing awareness among consumers about the latest developments is another reason the manufacturers are forced to control the price.
It would be fair to say that Android can definitely continue its momentum in 2014 as far as new and better products are concerned. However the interim period between new versions of the OS could be increasing. The future looks promising indeed.
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10767997158696063947noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4553977714311490263.post-6631787632676794822014-01-27T03:39:00.001-08:002014-01-27T03:39:32.631-08:00Mobile devices to look forward to at MWC

MWC 2014 is just around the corner. On February 24 through February 27, we will see some of the most innovative smartphones of this year on display in Barcelona, Spain. What do smartphone manufacturers have in store for us this year? Read below to learn what to get excited about!

HTC One 2

A lot of details have been released about HTC's One 2, though it has not been released yet. HTC's One was a successful device, and we expect the same for its successor. The HTC One 2 will have a screen around 5 inches with a fHD, or 1080p, resolution. The device will have an aluminum unibody, like the HTC One, but without the fingerprint scanner. The One 2 should have a 4-megapixel Ultrapixel rear camera, but possibly with better low-light performance. Lastly, the device will have a Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor and possibly 3GB of RAM.

LG G3

LG's new flagship device has been hyped up for awhile now. One remarkable aspect of the device is that it is pitted to be released alongside two wearables, the G Arch smartwatch and G Health fitness wristband. The G3 is going to be incredibly powerful with a 5.5-inch QHD, or 1,440 x 2560 pixels, display. The G3 will also have a 16MP rear camera and an octa-core processor, codenamed the LG Odin. Similar to the HTC One 2, the G3 is expected to have 3GB of RAM.

Nokia Normandy

Nokia is branching out into Android smartphones. We have seen top-notch Nokia devices in the past, such as the Lumia 1020 that boasts a 41MP camera. So, what does Nokia have in store for us with the Normandy? The Normandy is expected to be a budget phone, with a 4-inch, 480 x 845 pixel display, a 5MP rear camera, and a Snapdragon processor. The device will come running Android 4.4.1 (KitKat). The device will have a single button below the screen, like the button on the iPhone or on Asha devices.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo

If you want a phone that is both big and powerful, the Galaxy Note series could be for you. The Galaxy Note 3 Neo is not quite as big as the recent Galaxy Note 3. It resembles its predecessor the Galaxy Note 2 more, given that it has a 5.55-inch, 720p display, 8MP rear camera, 2GB of RAM, and comes with an S Pen. This device also has an intriguing hexa-core processor.

Sony Xperia Z2

The Xperia Z1 was recently released, but we are already seeing a sequel. The Xperia Z1 was meant to offer the same Xperia experience, but in a smaller package. The Xperia Z2 will be slightly larger. The Xperia Z2 will have a 5.2-inch, fHD display with 506ppi, a Snapdragon S800 quad-core processor, and the 20.7MP rear camera that was featured in the Xperia Z1. The device will also have 3GB of RAM. Furthermore, like others in the Xperia series, the Xperia Z2 is waterproof and dustproof.
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10767997158696063947noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4553977714311490263.post-71667215345939554772014-01-09T12:09:00.001-08:002014-01-09T12:09:15.997-08:00Five best mobiles from Indian manufacturers in 2013

The mobile device industry is dynamic and highly;y evolving in India. Prior to the announcement of the US launch, Meizu was part of a group of exceptional smartphone providers who are barely known outside of China such as Vivo, Xiaomi and Oppo. Although successful and popular with Chinese and South East Asian consumers, entering the US market will bring a number of challenges to the OEM company.
To begin with there is presently a broad range of established providers in the US market – enough to stave off other, larger Asia based electronics companies from attempted dominance in the market, such as Sony. Although Meizu has stated it will focus on providing quality phones at “consumer friendly prices” it will be a challenging and crowded marketplace to break into. Meizu has addressed this concern somewhat by concluding their short press release by stating that they believe “there’s room in the U.S. Market for another player”. So at the very least they have acknowledged competition will be tough but they are prepared to overcome that hurdle. Perhaps it is the elegant cutting edge designs and features that their Asian customers enjoy so much that will give Meizu the edge to compete stateside. The recently released Meizu MX3 features an Exynos 5 CPU and a huge 128GB storage. Additionally the company have also suggested that its upcoming Meizu MX4G may feature a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 2560 x 1536. To a certain extent it appears that Meizu has established its unique selling point as its design aesthetic. They have been successful at creating appealing devices with enough distinguishing characteristics so that their products stand out from other Android handsets across Asia and may see similar profitability results stateside.
An additional hurdle Meizu will face will be the Meizu operating system (OS) – Flyme. Presently Flyme is unknown, untested and unfamiliar to US users and developers. Meizu may choose to overcome this hurdle by adapting to the popular Android OS style currently the dominant preference stateside. There is also the matter of carrier support as devices from incumbent OEMs are currently overflowing the domestic carriers.
Going forward, as Meizu is gearing up for their US launch, should the move stateside prove successful the Chinese company could potentially expand into an international presence. Oppo has released several of its handsets in the United States with some success and is now moving throughout much of Europe. Meizu might be set to follow these global footsteps.
With impressive, elegant and well- designed handsets, Meizu’s January 2014 debut at CES will hopefully more specifically address when, how and at what pricing they intend to crack the U.S. market and meet stateside consumer demands. This will in turn give an indication as to how it wants to tackle other international markets. As a result, we should see more apps from CyanogenMod and to see Android devices running CyanogenMod out of the box. Their success will help shape the future of Android.

What is CyanogenMod?

If you are unfamiliar with CyanogenMod, they create the most popular ROMs for Android devices. These ROMs replace a smartphone's stock firmware, giving users absolute access to their phones. This can potentially make phones faster or more enjoyable to use.

One particularly nice thing about CyanogenMod over other ROM communities, is that their ROMs are easy to install. At one point, CyanogenMod was on Google Play. This may be partially responsible for their recent success.

CyanogenMod is becoming increasingly well-known

Out of the 1 billion activations of Android devices, over 10 million of these devices have CyanogenMod's ROMs installed on them. Samsung's Galaxy S, Galaxy S II, and Galaxy S III are the devices most commonly modded with CyanogenMod. This figure of 10 million includes only phones that are currently running CyanogenMod. If a phone does not check in within 90 days, it is removed from CyanogenMod's database.

That being said, this figure is impressive, especially given that modding phones is not an easy or common task. Many users are satisfied with their Android devices running stock firmware. However, the number of users running CyanogenMod on their devices indicates that a significant amount of Android users are becoming fed up with stock firmware, which often times is bloated with features or apps that users do not want and cannot remove.

CyanogenMod's recent funding success

The 10-million install mark was really just the cherry on top for CyanogenMod this year. They have also raised around $30 dollars in funding and are looking to hire staff immediately. They hope to go from 25 staff members to 85 or more in the next year. Clearly, this is very exciting news for CyanogenMod.

In a blog post, Steve Kondik, the CTO of Cyanogen Inc, outlined what this funding would be used for. Importantly, Kondik has ensured that CyanogenMod will remain open source, which is good news for its developers. Cyanogen Inc will expand their engineering, UX, design, and product teams. Users will begin to see more CyanogenMod apps, features, and services more often. Furthermore, devices will be developed that run CyanogenMod out of the box.

This is great for the average smartphone user who does not know how to mod phones but who would benefit from CyanogenMod's firmware.

If Cyanogen devices become popular, smartphone manufacturers will have to make their stock firmware competitive with CyanogenMod if they do not wish to include CyanogenMod on their devices. Hopefully, this means that we will see less bloatware and have more control over our devices.

Overall, CyanogenMod's success is well received in the Android development community and we should see great things from them soon.
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10767997158696063947noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4553977714311490263.post-60963292034096347402014-01-08T01:30:00.001-08:002014-01-08T01:30:00.489-08:00Best gadgets launched in 2013

Last year, a wide array of powerful gadgets came out that can fulfil needs we didn't even know that we had. From tablets to gaming consoles to 3D printers, the best gadgets of 2013 are detailed below.
Apple iPad Air

The iPad Air offers the first big change to the iPad since the iPad 2. The iPad Air can sense whether a thumb is on the screen on accident, a technology that older iPads did not have. This allowed Apple to make the device thinner than its predecessors. The iPad Air is also faster and shares some features with the iPhone 5S, like a motion co-processor.
gMax 3D printer

gMax is a 3D printer that was funded on Kickstarter. The printer is open source and is easy to dissemble, allowing users to swap new parts in. gMax has a larger print bed than many other 3D printers, so larger objects can be printed. The future of gMax looks bright, as many backers of the project are looking to expand its features.
Google Chromecast

Chromecast allows you to easily send any viewable content from a Chrome Web browser to a TV. You can control Chromecast from any smartphone, tablet, or computer. Chromecast is both inexpensive and easy to use, making it one of the best gadgets of this year.
Google Glass

Google Glass is a wearable computer that is currently in development. The device is worn like a pair of glasses. With Google Glass, users will be able to complete tasks that can be completed on smartphones without hands. Furthermore, using voice commands, Google Glass allows users to browse the Internet.
Microsoft Xbox One

The Xbox One can handle voice commands, gesture control, and offers an improved media playing experience over the Xbox 360. The Xbox One is a powerful console, with an octa-core processor and 8GB of RAM. This console is great for both gamers and Hulu or Netflix watchers.
Nexus 7 2013

The new Nexus 7 tablet has an astonishing display at 1920 x 1200 pixels with 323ppi on a 7-inch screen. It has a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, clocked at 1.5GHz, along with 2GB of RAM. Additionally, the device is inexpensive in comparison to its competitors. The Nexus 7 2013's power and affordability make it one of this year's top gadgets.
Nokia Lumia 1020

The Lumia 1020 is one of the best Windows Phone devices on the market. It has an incredible 41-megapixel camera, allowing users to take astonishing photos from the convenience of their smartphone. A celebrity wedding photographer recently used a Nokia Lumia 1020 to photograph an entire wedding. So if you're into taking photos with your phone, the Lumia 1020 is this year's gadget for you.
Samsung Galaxy Gear

The Galaxy Gear is Samsung's smartwatch that allows you to take phone calls, read texts, and control your smartphone from your wrist. The Galaxy Gear is an excellent device for individuals who can't always look at their phones but want to receive notifications as they get them.
Sony PlayStation 4

The Sony PlayStation 4 fulfils the same needs that the Xbox One fills, at a fraction of the cost. As a result, the PS4 has been outselling the Xbox One nearly 2-to-1. Like the Xbox One, the PS4 has an octa-core processor. The Galaxy S4 was a hit upon launch in March 2013. If Samsung wants to stay on top of Apple and other smartphone manufacturers in sales, they need to keep coming out with cutting-edge devices, which is why Samsung is back at it with the development of the Galaxy S5.
Build

The Galaxy S4 had a plastic body and we would love to see something better on the Galaxy S5. Some are speculating that Samsung will use carbon fibre. There are also rumours that the Galaxy S5 will be waterproof and dustproof, both of which would be seriously appreciated.
Screen

We will not likely see a screen larger than 5 inches. If Samsung were to increase the size of the Galaxy screen too much it would venture into Galaxy Note territory.
We may see a display improved over fHD. If the display is not fHD, it may be WQHD or Ultra HD. There are reports of a 5.25-inch WQHD screen in production. Furthermore, it is possible that the Galaxy S5 will have a curved screen, like the Galaxy Round has in Korea. We may also see Super AMOLED technology. Most circulating rumours are based off of technology that Samsung has been developing or that is out on other devices currently.
Processor

There is a rumour going around that the Galaxy S5 will have a 64-bit chip, given that Samsung has finalized a deal with Samsung for the chip. The name of the chip is not known yet, but it is speculated that it will be the Exynos 6. If Samsung does use this chip, they will need Google to prepare a 64-bit version of Android.
We may instead see a Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.5GHz, as these benchmark results have been spotted online.
Eye scanner

This is an interesting feature that we have not seen before. We may see an eye scanner on the Galaxy S5, which could be used for security purposes. This would be a good move for Samsung, as Apple and HTC have been adding extra security features to their devices with fingerprint scanners.
Camera

The Galaxy S4 has a 13MP camera, so we can expect to the Galaxy S5 to have something even better. GforGames is speculating that the Galaxy S5 will have a 16MP camera with ISOCELL technology.
When can we get our hands on the Galaxy S5?

Samsung's Galaxy S5 will likely be released in March 2014, given that the Galaxy S4 was released in March 2013. Some have speculated that the device will be released in February. Whatever the case, we are still looking at the same timeframe of early 2014.
Rumours for the Galaxy S5 are beginning to develop and it is sounding great. If we see a stronger build, a richer display, a decent processor, a well-implemented eye scanner, and an improved camera, all of which have been speculated, there is no doubt the device will be a success.
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10767997158696063947noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4553977714311490263.post-62289987820835675512013-12-29T23:37:00.001-08:002013-12-29T23:37:50.271-08:00LG entering the wearable segment with the G-Arch and G-Health

The wearable technology segment is going to be bustling in 2014. We can expect to see everything from smartwatches and fitness wristbands to smart glasses to wearable technologies that assist the elderly. Samsung has been one of the pioneers in this movement with their Galaxy Gear watch, which is compatible with only Samsung devices.
LG needs to step it up to compete with Samsung

Samsung sold significantly more smartphones than Apple or any other mobile manufacturer in the third quarter of 2013. Samsung shipped out nearly 11 times as many smartphones as LG.
If LG hopes to compete with Samsung, they need to get involved in the wearable segment. This is exactly what they are planning on doing. At MWC 2014, we can expect to see the new LG flagship phone, the LG G3, revealed alongside a smartwatch, the G-Arch, and a fitness wristband, the G-Health.
Will LG's wearables only be compatible with LG Devices?

As of right now, it is not clear whether the devices will be compatible only with certain LG devices or if they will be compatible with all devices. Certainly if the smartwatch and fitness wristband are compatible with all devices, they may see an increase in sales for this reason. However, this increase in sales may be at the expense of LG smartphone sales.
In any case, LG's new flagship phone, the LG G3, will certainly be compatible with the G-Arch and the G-Health. This phone will pack a powerful punch, with a Quad-HD display (2560 x 1440 resolution), octa-core processor, and 16MP rear camera. The G3 will also have a fingerprint sensor. This will either be a hit, as it was with the iPhone 5S, or a miss, like the HTC One Max. Regardless, the device will likely complement the G-Arch and G-Health nicely.
G-Arch and G-Health Specifications

Unfortunately, not much is known about either of LG's upcoming wearables.
The G-Arch will rival the Galaxy Gear, so we can probably anticipate similar features.
The G-Health will emulate Nike's FuelBand. The latest FuelBand has the capability to compare performance of individuals for different sports and activities; lights to indicate once goals have been reached, and lets users easily share fitness statistics. We may see some of these features in the G-Health.
Will LG be the one to make wearable technologies take off?

Wearable technologies are tougher to sell than smartphones because the need for them has not been established yet. If people come to find out that their lives are significantly improved by a smartwatch or a fitness wristband, sales will take off. Wearable technology manufacturers need to create the need for these technologies if they hope for them to succeed. If LG succeeds at this, they could sell more wearables than Samsung.
Furthermore, with wearable technology, style is almost as important as functionality. No one wants to think about how ugly their smartwatch is whenever they spot their wrist. If the G-Arch and G-Health are sleek and have sufficient functionality, they will have every chance at taking off. <span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ansi-language: EN-IN;">With the launch of the new Android based play tablet,
Xolo has once again made a comeback in the market. After the disappointment of
Xolo Play Tablet 7.0, the newer version i.e. Xolo Play Tegra Note, launched
with a price tag of Rs. 17,999, has arrived with some power packed features.

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ansi-language: EN-IN;">With simplicity as their key, the
company has rubberized the tablet’s back side in the middle with plastic
material covering the sides. Its bezel around the 7-inch display screen makes
it easy to hold and work on.

stylus with DirectStylus technology. Its pressure sensitive tip helps you to
take full benefit of Tegra Draw application and it works well with the
ultra-sensitive screen. However, the stylus of this Xolo Play Tablet makes a
point with its dual sided tips. The thin end is used for writing while the
thick tip can be used as an eraser and for drawing and colouring purposes. The
further added feature to this stylus is that it also allows you to take a snapshot
of the screen portions that can be shared via email.
