Recently, Gionee has announced its new flagship device, the Elife E7. Equipped with a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, the device offers a bright and large 5.5 inches display. On the other side, the highly anticipated Nexus 5 is also hitting headlines since its worldwide launch. So, how do these smartphone devices compare to each other?

Let’s find out with a feature analysis.


Google Nexus 5 is designed to be more compact and light weight when compared to Gionee Elife E7. E7 weighs heavier at 150g while Nexus 5 is lighter by 20gm. Even in terms of dimensions, Elife is bigger in terms of dimensions than the Nexus 5 and is bulkier to carry around.

Display Size and Resolution

Gionee Elife E7 and Nexus 5 offer more or less similar sized displays with just half an inch of difference between them. E7 has a bigger display that is 5.5 inches long. Both these devices have 1920x1080pixels screen resolution. However, Nexus 5 is likely to offer a better resolution quality with 445 pixels per inch compared to 401 pixels per inch in Elife E7.


This feature is more relevant in terms of utility to the user. Both E7 and Nexus 5 have common built-in sensors like the accelerometer, gyroscope, and compass. Nexus 5 has the additional barometer functionality and if you find this sensor handy, then the Google device certainly scores better over E7.

Operating System and Processor

Gionee Elife E7 offers Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system while Nexus 5 has Android 4.4 Jelly Bean. With the faster 2.3 GHz Quad Core processor powering the Nexus 5, it performs more efficiently than the 2.2 GHz processor in E7.


Elife E7 offers 2GB and 3GB RAM in its different versions but Nexus 5 is available with a single option of 2GB RAM. There is no memory card support in any of these devices.


When it comes to battery life, Elife E7 has the bigger capacity battery. E7 has 2,500 mAh battery to give a longer battery life than Nexus 5 with its 2,300 mAh battery.


Elife E7 has a much better 16MP LED flash rear camera and 8MP front camera. Nexus 5 does not have much to showcase in the camera department. It offers just a mid resolution 8MP LED flash camera and a secondary camera with 1.3MP. The user can click better resolution images with the E7, and if the camera feature is important to him then he may not prefer to own Nexus 5.


Google Nexus 5 is available at Rs. 28,999 for 16 GB version and Rs.32, 999 for 32 GB version. Gionee Elife E7 on the other hand is yet to arrive in India. The Chinese Smartphone manufacturer, Gionee is likely to retail E7 in January, 2014 in India.

Is Gionee Elife E7 Better than Nexus 5?

It’s hard to pick a winner between these two smart phones. Both of them are different from each other in their own terms. However, here is a summary of the analysis that can aid in your choice.
